Kick off your visit to the Balken region of Europe with an unforgettable trip down the Danube river. You can start the Journey in Budapest, Hungary with sightseeing, a beer spa and the Budapest hash and then board the AmaVerde for a winding trip through history and wine. The package includes a 4-night post-cruise land tour that will take you beyond Bucharest to the fabled Transylvania area of Romania. So expect some wine tastings and presentations along the way. Speaking of tasty beverages, AmaWaterways includes beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner plus a “Sip and Sail” pre-dinner cocktail hour with complimentary wine, mixed drinks, beer and the cocktail of the day. Even sparkling wine at breakfast! Ama also allows you to bring your own beverages on board.

Ama offers a pre-cruise package to Vienna (as shown on the above map) as a separate option. if you want to add that on, talk to Babe. Any stay pre-cruise in Budapest is on your own and not included in the package.
And as luck would have it, The Budapest hash runs on Sundays! (The day before we embark)
Day 1 – Monday Aug 2nd

Here we are in Moacs, Hungary. Take a road trip over to Pecs for the day, go to Szekszard for a wine tasting, or take a guided bike ride along the Danube. Or you can always strike out on your own adventure.

Today is Vukovar, Croatia. Discover Vukovar on a guided city or bike tour, visiting monuments like the Vukovar water tower and the historic Eltz Manor House. In the afternoon, savor Croatian wines in the Old Cellars or explore the Vucedol Museum, where prehistoric culture comes to life.
Day 4 Thursday Aug 5th
Welcome to Belgrade, Serbia! Explore Belgrade’s vibrant streets and historic landmarks, from the Nikola Tesla Museum to the majestic Kalemegdan Fortress. Adventurous passengers can join a bike tour or hike through the city, then savor Serbian brandy and local delicacies. For a more leisurely afternoon, wander Novi Sad’s charming old town and Liberty Square, immersing yourself in the region’s rich culture and tradition.
Day 5 Friday Aug 6th
This is Iron Gates, Serbia! Wander ancient strongholds where history and nature collide.

Marvel at the dramatic gorges and the striking mountainside carving of King Decebalus. Each view invites you to reflect on the wonders of this remarkable river corridor.
Day 6 Saturday Aug 7th
Today is all about Vidin, Bulgaria where you can experience Bulgarian traditions like a local. Wander through Vidin, where ancient streets lead to the Baba Vida Fortress, a silent guardian of centuries past. Step into local life with a Bulgarian pastry and yogurt tasting, or pedal along Vidin’s sunlit lanes and let the city’s history unfold around each bend on this unique bike tour.
Day 7 Sunday Aug 8th

Day 8 Monday Aug 9th
Alas, we’re in Giurgiu, Romania Where we have to say goodbye to the AmaVerde and her wonderful crew that has made this such a great cruise. BUT, our adventure is not over! Now we board our tour bus and take a senic ride to the legendary region of Transylvania, a place deeply rooted in myth and history. Arrive in the quaint mountain town of Bran where you will have lunch and visit the famous Bran castle, otherwise known as Dracula’s Castle. After your tour of Bran Castle, you will continue to Braşov. Considered the heart of Romania and surrounded by the beautiful Southern Carpathians, Braşov is one of the most visited cities in Romania. We’ll check into our hotel for our 2 night stay there.
Day 9 Tuesday Aug 10th
Brasov (pronounced “Bras off”?) Enjoy a walking tour around Braşov. Afterward, Dracula lovers will be in for another treat with an excursion to Sighişoara, birthplace to Transylvania’s most notorious ruler, Vlad Ţepeş, also known as Vlad the Impaler or Dracula. It’s hard to believe that this perfectly preserved UNESCO-designated town filled with resplendent pastel-colored buildings, stone lanes, medieval towers and pedestrian-friendly Old Town was Vlad’s place of birth. His home is still here, marked with a placard; however, today it houses a kitschy restaurant called “Casa Dracula.” Considered the heart of Romania and surrounded by the beautiful Southern Carpathians, Brasov is one of the most visited cities in Romania. After returning from your excursion to Sighisoara you will enjoy a walk through history as you take a tour of Braşov’s Old town before ending at your hotel.
Day 10 Wednesday August 11th
Heading to Bucharest. En route, you’ll visit the quaint mountain town of Sinaia. While in Sinaia you will visit Peles Castle. Peles Castle is considered by many to be one of the most stunning castles in Europe and a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance with 160 rooms filled with priceless European art. After your tour of Peles Castle you will depart for Romania’s capital city of Bucharest.
Day 11 Thursday August 12th
Here’s out chance to tour Bucharest before Eurohash takes us away AND we have two hotel nights in Bucharest included with our tour. This morning, enjoy a walking tour through the historic old town of Bucharest. You will observe the many changes this capital city has experienced through a mixture of architectural styles and cultural influences. Bucharest’s eclectic architecture is a mix of historical, neo-classical, communist-era and modern buildings. Your guided tour will take you through the old town and show you the most popular places in Bucharest while hearing stories of its history and getting local insights for shopping and dining opportunities. This should get us back in time for the red dress event.
Day 12 Friday August 13th
